Q.
What does System include?
The whole unit includes Reservoir Bottles, CIS
Cartridge, Tubing, Vacuum Pump, CIS Support Arm
and Connectors.
Q. Which printers are supported?
Currently our system is available for Epson Stylus
Photo 790, 810, 820, 830, 870, 875DC, 890, 895,
915, 925, 960, 1270,1280,1290, 2200 and EX2, EX3,
C62, CX3200, C42UX, C44, C80, C84, CX6400, R300,
RX500, RX600, R800.
Q. How does it work?
Tubing is attached to cartridges and moves back
and forth with the print head.
Continuous ink replacement as it is drawn out
of the cartridges. It does not touch inside of
printer or affect normal operation in any way.
Q. How to reset the ink counter?
1) Push the paper feed button down for 4+ seconds
(the print head will move into cartridge changing
position).
2) Remove the provided sensor clips. You can replace
them immediately.
3) Push the paper feed button down briefly and
the printer will do a charging cycle (since it
thinks you just installed a new cartridge).
You are ready to continue printing. The whole
process takes a couple minutes.
(Note: Reset the ink counter for both the black
and color carts at the same time. A charging cycle
draws ink from both cartridges anyway so you might
as well reset both and save time and a little
bit of ink).
Q. How sensitive is the printer to the
ink level in the reservoir bottles?
Your printer will operate properly as long as
you keep the bottles at the same level as the
printer. The padding in the cartridges creates
a nice pressure buffer so that the printer is
able to operate with various ink levels in the
bottles. If you raise the bottles up to a higher
level, you run a risk of ink pooling on the paper.
In normal operation with the bottles sitting next
to the printer, you will experience the same great
print quality no matter what the level of ink
in the reservoir bottles. In fact the print quality
should be equal to what you get with a fresh,
full cartridge all the time. (Normal cartridges
tend to degrade in quality as the ink level drops)
Q. When should I refill the reservoir
bottles?
Short answer, before they are empty. When you
refill the bottles, do not fill them all the way
up to the brim. Fill only to within 1 inch of
the bottle tap.
If you do run the reservoir bottle and the cartridge
dry, it is possible to re-prime the chamber by
removing the cartridge from the printer, plugging
the exit holes, and repeating the filling instructions.
However this will prove quite messy since you
will be pumping some residue ink out of the cartridge
in addition to the air. It would be better to
order a replacement virgin empty cartridge from
us.
Q. Can I change ink type and still use
the same CIS system?
Yes. The tubing is mounted to the color cartridge
using double-sided foam tape. It is possible to
remove the tubing from the cartridges, pull off
the bracket, and reattach the bracket and tubing
to a new cartridge. If another ink set appears
in the future that you wish to use, you do not
have to purchase a new CIS system.
